A Calling Card Plus

Published by techlover at 10:03 pm under Blogroll Edit This

It’s smaller than an iPod nano, but has the potential to be far more revolutionary–or annoying. The new rCard can show a video lasting at least 20 minutes, be custom printed to look like a business card and sold in bulk for less than $25 apiece. And it’s the size of a credit card and is as thick as two quarters.

Think of it as one more high-tech advertising medium. A salesman could use it to show off just how tightly that new sports car handles. A movie promoter might put previews on it and hand the rCards out at bars. Real-estate brokers–need we say more?

Created by Bud Wilcox and Armen Kazanchian using a novel paper-thin battery, the device has an aggressive marketing effort behind it at ceoiq.com. That’s the consulting firm that owns distribution rights. The rCards won’t be in wide circulation for another six months, but then get ready to see them proliferate.
